Inspiration from Dr. David White
A Word from Pastor David...
At the beginning of 2018, I believe it is important to repeat and remind us of what was prophetically spoken at The Gathering in Moravian Falls not too long ago, 'there's a fire burning in these hills', and it's one that this, along with many nations will come to see.
This was not only a prophecy spoken but many believe was a promise given, one we must encourage ourselves with and continue to pursue as if the lives of many depended on it. Because they do! Salvation will come and shouts of victory will be heard among the nations when the church awakens and aggressively walks in the purposes, purity and power of God.
Matthew's gospel reveals how Jesus uniquely fulfilled Isaiah's prophecy (see Isaiah 42:1-4). Jesus was the One God had chosen and sent as a Servant and Son. He was the fulfillment of who Isaiah declared would be well pleasing to His Father. Jesus was the One who would bring salvation to the Gentiles. Victory over sin, death, disease, the grave and indeed all of Hell’s fury would come through Jesus, followed by those who follow Him.
Isaiah declared, "a bruised reed He, (Jesus), would not break, and smoking flax, He will not quench, till He sends forth justice to victory; and in His name Gentiles will trust" (Matthew 12:18-21). Isaiah confirms how Jesus would eventually fulfill every purpose for which He had been sent. Likewise this must also be true of you and me in this hour.
In the process of the Father's will being done on earth, God uses ordinary, yet Holy Spirit empowered and on-fire people who make up what the bible defines as His church, the Body of Christ.
Sometimes the Lord’s Body gets bruised (weakened), and at other times it might even seem their spiritual fire has grown dim.
Feeling bruised from the blows of the enemy and at other times feeling as if the fire is waning is something every believer and church goes through at some point along their journey. This is not only normal but can actually be good.
The great preacher Charles Spurgeon once suggested that instead of our fearing we might not be able to hold on, (while going through whatever it is we are going through), we should really fear our holding on. In other words the sooner we stop holding on and 'let go' the better. Letting go is when we truly let God be who He is and do what only He can do.
A smoking flax that once burned brightly can, for any number of reasons, appear to be going out. In fact just touching a smoking flax or any quick movement will most likely put out whatever flame is left.
Matthew stressed how Jesus specializes in blowing upon smoldering embers. He can cause a flax that has lost some of its fire to again catch fire and rapidly spread.
Individual believers and churches whose fire has grown dim is of little value in the Kingdom of God, unless Jesus does something about it.
According to Isaiah and later Matthew, Jesus is the One who breathes life into what is nearly dead, brings light into what appears mostly dark and sends fresh fire to what seems to be dying out. What was only smoldering becomes a raging 'out of control' fire when Jesus shows up and blows upon the flame.
Recently someone shared with me a dream she had about us.
In the dream she saw a fire in the mountains of Moravian Falls. Whether we felt it or saw it or not wasn’t important. The fire IS here!
She shared how in 2017 God used us to fan the flames, stoke the coals and add wood to the fire that is here. The scripture written under the carpet on the altar at The Gathering that the fire would never go out is not only written under the pulpit but forever stands firm in heaven (see Ps 119:89). The Lord has invested much in this fire!
In addition to the dream she wanted me to know of an experience her husband had with a fire that, because of the wind, quickly got out of control. As he scurried around to contain the fire the Lord spoke to him, "you may help start the fire but there is no way you can control 'wild fire'.
Jesus did not come to put out the fire of the church He is building. Nor does the devil have the authority to do so. It’s up to us to stay on the course, continue to believe, keep stoking the flame, but 'let go’ and ‘let God’ do it!
Without doubt there is a fire burning in these hills. But what is most needed is for it to get out of control!
I want to strongly encourage you not to miss this Sunday, January 7th at the Gathering as our friend Andrey Shapoval returns. Andrey’s ministry, ‘Flame of Fire Ministries’ is located in Sacramento, CA but he is originally from Ukraine. He will preach in Russian with an interpreter. His ministry equips and empowers thousands from the Slavic nations who now live in America in the fire and power of God. In other words an army from the former communist Soviet Union is invading America with the gospel of the Kingdom.
God is using Andrey around the world in amazing ways. I honestly believe and do not say this lightly, that Andrey is one of the most anointed young preachers alive today. His meetings in Africa would remind you of Reinhart Bonnke’s.
Be at the Gathering this Sunday and invite someone who needs to encounter the presence and power of God.
The following Sunday, January 14th, another man God is using in healing schools and miracle services around the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, Tommy Combs, will speak at The Gathering. Alert and bring those who need a miracle!
I believe God is sending these two men at the beginning of the year as a further equipping for what He wants to do here this year.
Contrary to hope, in hope Abraham believed God and fulfilled what had been spoken over his life. Rather than wavering at the promise he was strengthened in faith being fully convinced that what God had promised He was fully able to perform, (see Rom 4:18-22). May this be spoken of all those called to these mountains.
There is a fire burning in the hills and mountains around Moravian Falls for all the nation’s to see. See you this Sunday!
