Presidential Prayer Watch Update

“Still our eyes failed us, watching vainly for our help; in our watching we watched for a nation that could not save us” (Lam 4:17).

The Great Awakening

In a recent interview Texas U.S. Representative Louie Gohmert stated how the attempts to bring about the impeachment of President Trump and to overthrow the election of 2016 was closer to a “communist revolution” than a civil war. Other than our president, Gohmert is unfortunately one of just a hand full of governmental leaders who are holding nothing back willing to speak and stand for truth. Later in the interview he expressed how he will do all in his power to stand in the way of those who are seeking to remove the president and grab control of this nation.

The book of Lamentations is not the kind of book you necessarily want to read before going to bed because it is more like a script for a funeral. It describes the death of a city, and that city being the once proud and majestic Jerusalem.

The invading forces of Babylon had infiltrated the city and were doing what they do best, steal, kill and destroy. The writer, the prophet Jeremiah regrettably confessed, “the Lord delivered me into the hands of those whom I am not able to withstand” (Lam 1:14).

Later in the book Jeremiah blasts the religious leaders of his day who, as a result of their false prophecies and delusions, failed to uncover the reason for the nations demise, which was their sin (see Lam 2:14). The walls had come down and the enemy was entrenched throughout Israel.

“But if they had stood in My counsel, and caused My people to hear My words, then they would have turned them from their evil way and from the evil of their doings” (Jeremiah 23:22).

Amazingly in the midst of what seemed hopeless Jeremiah wrote, “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness” (Lam 3:22-23). Having written this he then confesses, “there may yet be hope” (Lam 3:29).

As was the case with Israel the enemies of America, however you define them, are spread throughout every segment of society. Just as explained in the first chapter of Romans multitudes of people have exchanged the truth of God for lies. What once was seen as evil is now celebrated as good and what use to be accepted as good is now considered evil.

Although Jeremiah came to the realization that the nation he loved could no longer save the people he still declared and obviously believed there may yet be hope.

“Still our eyes failed us, watching vainly for our help; in our watching we watched for a nation that could not save us” (Lam 4:17).

The book of Lamentations ends with Jeremiah defining the only hope for his nation when he acknowledges, “woe to us for we have sinned” (Lam 5:16b). He then cries out, “turn us back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored; renew our days as of old” [make us great again], (Lam 5:21).

We cannot, must not and will not stop our intercession for the president and this nation. We have seen so many of the prayers we have been specifically praying answered. I know there are many praying for President Trump but no one would ever convince me this presidential prayer watch, that was started because of a warning and challenge from who many consider a modern day prophet, Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj, has not moved the hand of God. Many of you have been relentless in your intercession.

Jeremiah gave us a key to making America great again. First it was in his declaring how great God’s faithfulness was. Yet it also was seen in his confession of sin, repentance and his calling on God to turn his nation back.

Don’t let up! Keep praying that those who are digging the ditch for the president will fall into it themselves. Pray God will destroy and divide the tongues (false communication) of CNN, MSNBC, ABC, the New York Times, etc. Pray our nation will receive a love for the truth. Continue to break word curses, spells and incantations spoken against our president and nation. Don’t stop praying and believing, “Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end” (Ps 7:9). But along with our interceding join me in crying out to the Lord to turn our nation back to Him.

I personally believe a Great Awakening has begun. I see much evidence of this in our own church here in Moravian Falls and in many other places. I recently was invited to speak at what was called The Great Awakening Prayer Breakfast in Pasadena just outside of Houston, Texas and heard some incredible testimonies of what God is doing, for example, on our southern border. Yet as a whole our nation has yet to truly turn back to the only One who can save us. But then maybe it only takes a few.

The one thing I want each of us to remember in this update is, there may yet be hope, and there is, regardless of how hopeless at times it appears! Join me in praying this prayer:

Father we confess our sin before You. It’s against You that we have sinned. Grant us the gift of repentance so we might truly turn from and forsake our sin and rebellion. Lord, turn us back to You and we will be restored (revived). Renew us as in the days of old that we might produce fruit worthy of repentance.

While we are extremely thankful for all those, especially President Trump, You have raised up in this hour, we confess our hope is not in our government, our constitution or in any specific leader. We lift up our eyes to the hills where our help comes from. Our help comes from You the Maker of the heavens and earth.

We cry out to You Lord our only hope. Send another great spiritual awakening to our land. Send fresh fire on the pulpits of America that we might once again burn with passion for Your Son. You are great in Your faithfulness and mighty to save!

In the strong and mighty name of Jesus!

Thank you for continuing to stand!
