The Kingdom Series –
‘Nationalism Verses Globalism’
“And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue and nation. And all who dwell on the earth will worship him(the beast), whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If anyone has an ear, let him hear”
It was recently reported how actor James Cromwell warned of“blood in the streets”if Republicans remain in control and Democrats lose in the mid-term elections. Although Cromwell has since backtracked from his statement, those words were still spoken and according to the book of James words can be as a“hellish flame”that “releases a fire” (Passion Translation) throughout the land. Likewise, in defending the unprecedented protests, threats and lawless behavior surrounding the Brett Kavanaugh nomination, Hillary Clinton spoke out how civility can only start again if Democrats win back the House and/or the Senate.
These along with many other comments constantly coming from the media and the left in America is evidence of another war currently being waged. One that has been underway for many years and will eventually engulf the entire globe. It is the battle betweenglobalismandnationalism,or national sovereignty verses world government. Just as the sons of Issachar, the church must understand what is happening, expose the agenda behind globalism (Eph 5:11), resist it where possible and at the same time prepare for its arrival.
The quest to eliminate the concept of individual nations/states and achieve world government is not new. Nearly 100 years ago an article appeared in the inaugural edition ofForeign Affairs Magazinedenouncing the idea of an‘America First or Nationalist’mindset. For the United States in 2018 to have a president who actually resists the dreams some have of dismantling America from within and as a patriot still believes in America being great and first is the ultimate insult to the globalists and those who have succumbed to what the Bible confirms as one of Satan’s highest goals.
The idea of a global society dates all the way back to the book of Genesis and the tower of Babel. It was there where the sons of men came together with one voice to object to the idea of their being ‘scattered abroad’ over the face of the whole earth.
They believed by coming together, without God of course, they could make a name for themselves and build a city (government) that would rival and even exceed that of God’s.
On the surface and to some, their dreams may have appeared noble, as is the case with many today. They would be able to solve all the world’s problems by becoming as one. However God did not see it their way and knew what was really taking place in the heart of man. God interrupted their plans then and eventually will again.
The tower of Babel (globalization), was a symbol of man’sultimate rejection of any need for God. It was Satan’s attempt to lead the sons of men in the exaltation and glorification ofself above God. This would pave the way for what he most desired, their total allegiance and eventual worship. God scattered them into different languages and nations across the earth.
John Lennon’s songImagine, released in 1971, was aboutglobalism. After the encouragement to imagine there is no heaven or hell and no religion to, included in the lyrics was the challenge to imagine a world without borders (countries), being replaced by a big brotherhood of man. Though not stated but understood, globalism would enable the world to live happily ever-after in man’s own created utopia completely void of God and ruled by a few, and eventually by one!
Some would assume that because a world government will eventually come to pass why should we try and stop it? But that is not what God did in Genesis and it’s not His plan now.
After allowing wicked men and women a brief time of what will appear as a victory, the Lord will crush this final act of lawlessness and rebellion by casting Satan, those who worship and were deceived by him, and all these schemes into what the book of Revelation calls, “the lake of fire”.
“The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever”
From a biblical perspective globalismultimately is the desire for the world to be governed or ruled asonepolitically, economically, militarily and religiously paving the way for theman of sin (lawlessness and rebellion)or theAntichristto be revealed (see Rev 13).
Secondly, it must be understood that God, although aglobalistsin that He loved the world sending His Son to die for and redeem it, is without apology anationalists.
This is evidenced in the book of Acts where we find:“And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their pre-appointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in hope that they might grope for Him and find Him,” (Acts 17:26-27).
Although God created everyone from one blood in His image, He is the One who has appointed where men and women dwell during their lifetime on the earth. He established the borders (boundaries) with the desire that every man and woman would seek and find Him!
In spite of the fact that the nations are all connected and should cooperate with one another in numerous ways, still the book of Revelation acknowledges the significance and unique place each individual nation will have in the New Jerusalem.
“And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it”
God would not join theopen borders crowd and neither should we. While the over-whelming majority of those who have been deceived into believing a world without borders is the answer to the world’s greatest problems, and while others look at it as a scheme to amass and control the world’s monies and resources, the church should stand with our president who has openly challenged and defied what is one of Satan’s highest goals.
The church must sound the alarm of what God’s word says aboutglobalism verses nationalism. It’s not the word of any politician or theologian that will stand but its’ God’s word(the truth) that will endure forever.
